Dear diary,

Do you ever go to the title and wonder why I named the chapter such? Because it is significant, dummy.

Anyways, Saturday went by, and I refused to get out of bed. I literally slept the whole frickin day, without a bath, and just getting out occasionally for food and peeing. But as Sunday came, and so did my self-imposed deadline of going out and exploring the nearby areas, I had to.

But not until 12 noon, on Sunday.

So, I put on what I felt would help me if I get stared at/it rained/to look good: my denim jacket, denim pants and black top. And there I went.

If you picture it romantically, it sounds like this:

Oh, what a wonderful monsoon day! As the sun shone through the rainy clouds, I tossed my blanket aside and got ready to live this day to the fullest. I picked out my lucky denim outfit, grabbed my hobo and wore my mask. As I stepped out, a misty breeze following the showers we had last night caressed my hair, and I smiled to myself. Today is gonna be great!

I opened the Google map on my phone and started navigating my way around the area. First stop: the supermarket.

Smiling widely, I pranced into the supermarket, almost bumped into a middle-aged gentleman, and scoured the shelves.

Snacks. Stationery. Utility. Fancy. Toiletries. Ah, there it is. Ever since I moved to Bangalore, I have been experiencing hair fall. But this shampoo is gonna make it alright!

Happily placing the shampoo in my bag, I hopped onto the streets and looked around. The warm shade of the lush green trees, the posh villas and the freshly washed road made it all a beautiful day to be out! Noticing a small juice shop on the corner, I decide to visit it. ‘A regular orange juice, please.’ I said. Drinking in the delicious goodness of the juice, I smiled at every passing stranger and they smiled back at me. Quickly stuffing a couple of croissants into my bag, I strutted out, back into the breezy summer day.

Having looked around at shops of all kinds, I made my way into the grocery store and bought myself a bunch of bananas. Happily looking at all my purchases and thinking about the day well spent, I walked back to my PG, as lunch was waiting for me!

Now just remove the narrative and the smiling. That was my day. Cool right.

Yours forever,

Shane Austen
